Who are we?
Waterwatch UK is a community led organisation dedicated to improving water quality and accountability across the UK. We empower people to safeguard waterways and hold polluters accountable for a cleaner, sustainable future.

What do we do?
We provide a platform for individuals and local groups to engage directly with the water companies, regulators, and other bodies involved in water pollution, ensuring their concerns are heard and acted upon.

What do we do?
To ensure water companies, stakeholders, and regulators achieve real, measurable outcomes, starting in Southend, where Waterwatch UK began. As we expand across the UK, transparency, accountability, and community driven change will remain at the heart of our mission.

How it Started
To ensure water companies, stakeholders, and regulators achieve real, measurable outcomes, starting in Southend, where Waterwatch UK began. As we expand across the UK, transparency, accountability, and community driven change will remain at the heart of our mission.
Funding and Independence
Transparency doesn’t stop with water quality; it extends to how we operate. Waterwatch UK will be funded through contributions from key stakeholders, including local businesses, environmental groups and government bodies. This diverse funding model is critical because it allows us to remain independent while ensuring that all parties contributing to the problem are also part of the solution.
We’re not just holding water companies to account, but local authorities, Ofwat, the Environment Agency, ECAS, MPs, the government, the agricultural sector, and anyone else involved in water pollution. These groups understand that they need to be held accountable not just by regulators like Ofwat, but by independent entities that represent the communities they impact. By supporting Waterwatch UK, they’re committing to more than just meeting legal obligations; they’re showing a willingness to address the root causes of pollution and work towards long term improvements.
With Waterwatch UK as an independent body overseeing this process, we ensure that water companies, local stakeholders, and regulators work together towards real, measurable outcomes. And as we continue to grow, our commitment to transparency, accountability, and community driven change will remain at the heart of everything we do.
