Waterwatch Southend Community Committee Members Wanted

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Waterwatch Southend is recruiting 2–4 new community members to join the Southend Community Committee.

The committee represents the local community and works with key stakeholders to improve the health of our rivers, estuaries and coastline. Members help shape discussions at the Southend Water Quality Summits and ensure local voices are heard when engaging with organisations such as the Environment Agency, Ofwat, Southend City Council and Anglian Water.

We are looking for people who:

• Care about the future of our local waters
• Want to represent community views
• Are willing to engage constructively with stakeholders
• Can contribute ideas, local knowledge or relevant expertise

You do not need to be an expert in water issues. What matters most is a willingness to participate, listen and help strengthen community oversight.

Committee members help:

• Raise community concerns and local evidence
• Hold organisations accountable for commitments made at the Water Quality Summits
• Support constructive dialogue between residents, regulators and industry
• Strengthen community leadership on local water issues

This is a voluntary community role.

How to put yourself forward

  1. Become a Waterwatch UK member:
    https://waterwatchuk.org/civicrm/contribute/transact/?reset=1&id=1
  2. Email: southend@waterwatchuk.org
    Include a short note explaining:
    • Why you would like to join the committee
    • Any relevant experience or community involvement

Next step

Once nominations close, Waterwatch UK members will vote online on Friday 10 April to select the new committee members.

Waterwatch UK is a grassroots initiative working to create community-led oversight of water quality and environmental commitments in Southend and beyond.
